Recorded message stating they were the IRS and they were trying to get in contact with me. Said please contact 646-859-2697. Scam Call. I reported this to the IRS Phishing investigations.
They left a partial recorded message saying that someone is filing a lawsuit against me. When I called back a man with a heavy accent said that I owed the IRS $3,687.36. He then repeatedly asked me for the last 4 digits of my social and DOB to confirm who I was. I asked him how he could possibly know how much I owed if he didn't even know who I was. He said his local IRS agent would come to my door and collect the money. He said I had an hour to cancel the warrant or I would be have to pay $45,000 - $60,000 in court fees! He said he was calling from the IRS in Washington DC, but the caller ID showed the call was from NY, NY. TOTAL SCAM!!! Does anyone fall for this???
