I just got this call 7 minutes ago -- 646-883-9018. They said it was a 2nd attempt to inform me to appear before a magistrate court for a federal offense. To contact a federal agent, I was to call this number. Complete CRAP! I've done nothing wrong, for starters. Glad to know it's a hoax, which is what I suspected in the first place.
Called me and left message that this was a second and final attempt before it is taken to a magistrate, that I was avoiding a federal agency. This call is a private number from the White Plains/New York City Area. It is a private land line.
Called and as soon as they answered I told them I am a CPA (which I am) that I don't owe anybody anything and before I could say anything else they hung up on me. IRS# is 1-800-829-1040.
