Called our business advising they are from Intel, they wanted to speak to someone called Mark. They were arranging a webinar. No one works for us called Mark and she had a loud TV on in the background and I struggled to hear her.
calls multiple times everyday even though I have been asked to be removed from their call list. blatantly lies and claims to have never called before. Always wants to send a free whitepaper.
It's some call center out of India. They won't identify the company, they won't identify their reason for calling. They just insist that they have to speak to the person they are asking for. They seem to be hunting for executives in the company. They say they want to send you a white paper, but they don't seem to know what a white paper is, what it is about, or why they are sending it. I asked them if it was anything beyond an Indian call center being paid to troll for people's information and they hung up. They are calling on the worst connection I've heard in years.
Phishing attempts directed at specific individuals or companies have been termed spear phishing. Attackers may gather personal information about their target to increase their probability of success. This technique is, by far, the most successful on the internet today, accounting for 91% of attacks.
