If someone can confirm this, then perhaps we can get the police onto them for their scam tactics.
I suspect that the dead air is an artifact of the predictive dialing system or something like that. All I can say is that I'm ready to string someone up!

Sunday July 29, 2012. In Regards to Phone Calls from 647-247-1746 Unknown Name
I just got another call today from 647-247-1746 showing up as Unknown Name.
It has been many months now that this number has been calling me many times, either it is a pre-recorded message to do with a 30 second survey, in return they will give you a trip for Two (2). Press number One (1) to take the survey or press number Nine (9) to be removed from their calling list. Or from this same number I will get calls with no voice at all when I say hello, totally dead sounding line.
Myself being a very sick person and getting these calls at all hours, it seems at times they seem to know I am sleeping because of being sick and what do you know, the phone rings with one of these pain in the [***] calls.
It sure would be nice if someone could do something and track this number down and have legal actions taken against them or at the least have them made to stop phone there phone calls.
When I look up the number under the reverse directory the caller comes from the Toronto area.
I Thank-You Very Much for anything you might be able to do with stopping these calls.

As to other complaints you have gotten from and saying as I have copied and pasted there complaints below mine are about the same as there’s.

This phone number 647-247-1746 calls our business phoneline. We do get an automated message asking us to press 1 to take a political survey and win a free trip. The message also gives the option to press 9 to decline the survey and be removed from the call list...every time I press 9 it's like it doesn't accept it (surprise!). I'm guessing for the other people on this board that don't hear the message, that their system is not registering you pick up and not switching over to play the message....so on top of being annoying their system appears to be broken as well!
To add to the fray, there is another number which calls and plays the exact same message as well (as if 1 annoying auto call wasn't enough!) It's never going to end ever...*sighs*

Autodialer message: "Hello this is Ann from Political Opinions. You have been carefully selected to participate in a short 30 second research survey pertaining to our nations debt crisis and for participating you will receive a free 2 day cruise for two people to the Bahamas curtesy of one of our supporters. Gratuities and a small port tax will apply. To begin the survey, please press 1 now. To decline the survey and be removed from our list press 9. Thank you."
Press '1', and walk away from your telephone. After 4 minutes of you wasting their time (and preventing them from calling their next target), they will hang up.
