Had three calls today, the first saying he was from CRA and that I owed taxes. I immediately recited what he would ask for next, that I knew it was a scam and that I would be reporting the call; he hung up. Second caller hung up as soon as I answered, Third was a woman who said she was from Revenue Canada to advise that a lawsuit was being issued against me. I asked her what information she had to enable her to call me and she said she didn't have any, so I asked how she could make the call without having any information. She paused, then replied with something I had to ask her to repeat. She said she was not calling about a lawsuit but was trying to sell her car. Laughing, I asked her to repeat that, which she did, so I said to her, "good luck with that" and hung up, still laughing and wondering how many gullible people would be scammed by these idiots.
Got the same call on May 19, he stated, with a very weak command of the English language that he was from CRA and I was in violation of tax fraud and I should hire a lawyer. Obviously got my name out of the phone book. I'm listed by my nick name not my legal name which I use when filing. Asked him to confirm my name on file and my SIN number. "Sorry Sir I'm not permitted to divulge that information.
