This number, 647-496-4195 is a company which goes by the name of Ibex Solutions. I had received the same call as everyone else has mentioned in this post. I contacted Canadian Tire Financial Services Privacy and Personal information department which number is printed on the Canadian Tire Bank Card Member Agreement Form, 1-866-846-5841 as I myself was also concerned how a third party company could have my personal information. The representative I had spoken with from their Privacy Department could not identify this company and therefore as Canadian Tire policy clearly states on the agreement form that if resolution is not satisfied at the representative level, to be escalated to an Account Management Supervisor. Upon speaking with this supervisor, she had confirmed with me that CTFS infact does not have any affiliation with Ibex Solution and should be treated as a fraudulent act!! This was directly communicated by a supervisor within CTFS Privacy department. She suggested if I had revealed some personal information, I should therefore replace my card. Makes me think of the server hack issue that Home Depot recently had with identity theft which happened within their systems!!! How safe is our supposedly "Privacy"???
It apprears to be a scam. They likely hacked in or got the info from Canadian tire but they don't have any of your info except # and name. Also i think becasue of the dead air, that it's a Roto dial machine that makes a dime on every call answered. If you answer, they'll keep calling until finally they don't make any $$ on you and take you off the list. The longer you stay on the phone the more $$ they make. If they can manage to get any info from you then you are in deep water. Avoid them like the plague.
They had been calling me 2 times a day for the past week. I have not been answering until just now. Asking me to agree to a fraud protection policy and to create a security code, I looked the number up before I answered their call and told them straight up I was not buying into it until I for sure know what it is for and I was not interested she still proceeded to tell me to say yes I just hung up.. I believe it's a scam.
This number calls over and over again to both my cell and home numbers. Spoke to them when they called the home number and they said they were calling from Canadian Tire mastercard told me they were sending me an insurance package. Don't know if it's a scam but it's definately annoying, they don't take no for an answer. Don't give them any info.
Area code 647 (where the calls originate) is in Toronto so no, I don't think it;s a rotocaller altho they do seem to use a dialer of some kind as there is a pause while you get connected to an available person in the call centre. That's when I hung up so I don't have to listen to their BS. CT guard their databases better than Fort Knox protects the gold that isn't there so I'm confident that it's a "legitimate" business that CT has sold their list to. That doesn't mean we have to listen to them or hand out info unless you choose to do business with them.
