I was out but when I got home I checked to see who might have called. I Googled this 647-497-7874 and was able to read your posts. The "gimme calls" (as I call them) are turning people off. I have a number I give to annually - like most people, I can only handle so many.
Yes. Same call. Heart and Stroke. Told her I had already given twice this year and she suggested to save myself some time, etc., would I like to donate a small amount monthly. No thank you. I donated twice because I had forgotten my donation in February 2014. I have received a lovely long red wrap-around scarf, a beautiful shopping bag with fabric on the front and a zipper section, cards, stickers, and a small monthly calendar booklet. Everyone this year is sending out cards, calendars, stickers, etc.
I give to many different organizations every year - favourites that I have sort of amassed over the years and as I have lost friends and relatives and I am rapidly getting turned off by the constant push to donate.
To all of these people I say, take your give-away items and use them for your organization and stop phoning and mailing me. Also the people involved in fundraising and foundations have pretty darn good salaries -- think about that !
I got call from this number(6474977874) with no message. after reading the messages here I blocked the number. Many thanks to all of you to post who they are. it made it easily for me to block their number.
Interesting posts. Must be one of those 'rented numbers' that some legit telemarketing/research companies use. I got the same number calling on Dec. 2/14 but it was a fundraising request from The Broadbent Institute - a legitimate charitable institution founded/chair by former NDP leader Ed Broadbent. Their goal is not Socialist but to keep the public informed through research on government policies, and to keep 'the people' and poverty reduction on the agenda of the elected government (the current Canadian government is helping Business, and Wealth generation - but not the impoverished nor the environment.)
If you made a donation in memory of Jack Layton, you might get a solicitation - which is legit as it is a registered charity.
