I got a voicemail last night on my cellphone from an automated message system, instructing me to call 888-454-0168 to claim my $40 VISA GIFT CARD. The message did not identify the business entity calling me. So I called the 888 number as instructed just for grins (as I already figured it was a scam) and sure enough- the same anonymous, automated system (same voice, anyway) upon answering my call tells me to "press 1 to receive your $40 VISA card, or press 3 to be removed." Again, this automated system did not reveal just WHO this business is or why I qualified.
I have, at times, filled-out a few surveys- for Jack in the Box, Panda Express, and for Wal-Mart; one offers $1000 monthly sweepstakes prize entry (J.I.B.), and I think WM either offers a $1k or $5k sweepstakes monthly entry for doing their survey. But something smells here. The caller is too anonymous, and no, I didn't press 1 OR 3 as instructed, I hung up. Our cellphones are on the NDNC registry and have been for some time. MY FB data is only partially accessible by my friends, and my ph # is kept private. Go figure.
I tried the android block calls tip (using a HTC Glacier/MT4G on T-Mobile w froyo 2.2) and all I get when long pressing in the options drop down is a "divert call" option, which sends the number directly to voicemail. I want to block it completely.
Ok, so i was trying to catch up on the jersey shore and mtv.com isnt playing episode 1, season 4 right now...so i tried another site. to watch it, I had to answer dumb questions and select a prize...u had to put in ur cell number to get a code txted to u. as soon as i got it, i replied STOP to cancel the service. 2 minutes ltr, i got a call and voicemail about calling their 1-888 number to get a $40 visa gift card
