call so i called jordan and assort at number giving told them there no such person here by that name they stated ok we will remove your name and number.
My step mom and my Mom recieved a call from one tomas miller saying that I did not appear at my court hearing and the law was on the way to take me to jail for a past credit card amount of 1000. dollars that i suppossedly owed from 9 years ago. I was called home from work, my family was very upset,already having two strokes and othe health issues. I was told to call Jordan and Assocs at 1 675 215 0010 and ask for Tomas Miller, who is very rude. He wanted a credit card number right away, but after finding out as the conservsation went on that my brother was a lt. on our local policy police department, all of a sudden Tomas had to get to the other caller on the other line. He was trying to get rid of me. So, we will see if toma will send any of his paperwork that he wants me to sign in near future. My bet it never arrives.
This number is a debt collecting agency. They use illegal scare tactics to try and get money from you.
1) It is illegal to call someones place of business or work to collect a debt.
2) It is illegal to infer that warrants or arrest is pending because of a debt. "Debtors Prison" was made illegal by the US gov in the late 1800's
3) It is illegal for a debt collector to tell a third party or anyone who answers the phone what the nature of the call is, true or otherwise. In other words: telling your employer that the call is regarding a legal matter with a possible arrest is against the law.
The only thing that debt collectors are legally allowed to say to a third party is the name of the company they work for, their name and number, a reference ID or number, and the request that you return the call. Anything else, including questions about where you may be located, is illegal. If you or a third party ask that they stop calling and they continue to call, it is illegal.
Please people, research the Fair Debt and Collections Act. You CAN sue for substancial damages if you can prove (voicemailand phone conversation recordings) that they engaged in any of these tactics. Keep records of dates, times and nature of all phone calls, even if they call your work, friends, neighboors and relatives.
I have sued this exact place, and based on the evidence I had in recorded conversations and voicemails, I was able to prove 13 individual instances of violations. The law allows for up to 1500.00 damaged to be paid PER violation, so they settled with me for a significant amount.
They will NEVER call me ever again, I assure you this. So please people: research the law. It is on your side!
