Received three phone calls from Steve Martin yesterday as well. Same threat about the IRS, appearing before a judge, etc. I won't be calling him back either!
I just received a message from this number. It was someone with a heavy accent (Indian perhaps?) so I had trouble understanding them, but I think he claimed to be with the US Treasury and said this was a second warning and that we needed to call back. I assume this is some sort of scam since I'm sure the US Treasury is not trying to get in touch with us, but what in the world kind of scam are they running? Very annoying.
Got a call from someone with indian accent saying that he was from US Treasury and there was a problem with my 2010 tax return and I could be subject to arrest. He didn't ask me for anything because at some point he likely sensed he wasnt going to get anywhere with me. There is no issue with my tax return, and if there was the IRS would contact me in writing.
Automated pre-recorded call, heavy Indian accent, Steve Maddjen (spelling?) 0910 Central time 11-19-2014. Listened to the message and it repeats itself 3 times. Number traces back to Placenta, Ca. Hilarious. The same as above Treasury issues, grand jury, blah blah.
Got a call a message about US Treasury and appearing before a judge. Called this number and spoke to someone who was extremely rude and appeared to have a Middle Eastern accent. When I asked to speak to someone from the US who spoke English, that I couldn't understand anything he was saying, he hung up on me. I tried to call back and my calls go to voicemail. I have blocked this caller.
