They had very important news about my credit card, so  I pressed 1.  The guy sounded American, but the sound was poor. He asked how much of a balance I wanted to transfer. I said $10000 and he said $7000? I said "sure". He said OK, He asked if it was VISA or MC and for expiration. Then he said "OK, I need you to go to your statement and read me your card #" . I just started saying random digits, after that he said   OK, I need you to jump in a river and die [***]". I started laughing and he hung up.

For a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

This is a scammer who trying to get information out of you. Pick up the call and said hello. Right away the person speaking through voice scammer tried to get information on who lives there by saying a maiden name of who they think lives at your number. I kept saying hello and it didn't know how to respond to that , then it hung up.Will not respond to who they are either. Don't answer this number fake person. It's not a bill collect either, they have no problem of telling you who they are.
