I received the exact type of call. A girl asked my name (she had it correct) and asked me to confirm. I did. She told me she was from Core Home Security. She asked if I wanted a completely free home security system in exchange for putting their little sign out on my front lawn. I asked her what "free" meant? She did not understand my question. I asked her if this meant free hardware and free monitoring. She said she "understood wanting more information" and then asked me if I wanted her to transfer me to "someone with more information.." I asked her how they got my number because they called my private cellular number stating to her I was just trying to track this down. She immediately hung up. This is the second or third such call I have received from this outfit. It should be noted that my old, defunct blackberry was stolen several weeks ago, and now I am receiving such calls. It is clear to me this is a disreputable caller as I asked the girl how they got my number. She stated that this "....must have come from an application you filled out..." Well, neither my wife nor I ever completed such an application. When I told them this, during their prior call, they also hung up. This is very shady to say the least. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had several call on our home number asking for Howard, this is my deceased father. He has been gone over 2 years. I tried to call the number back that came up on the caller ID and it don't ring. So weird.
Total scam
I use an app that allows me to block the number but it also tells me while the call is coming in if others have had complaints with this number and then allows me to instantly block this number while it's still ringing.
