This place is supposedly a company called National Safety and Security. THEY ARE A SCAM. They have poor folks go in for interviews and offer fake jobs just so the applicant can put in their personal information down for a background check which he/she has to pay for ($75) I have been investigating this scam all day and I will contact the police today. There's no such location on Van nuys and Sherman way for this "job" they are trying to offer.. People please don't be oblivious just because you hear that there's good money.. It's a scam!!
I replied to an ad for a job and was called in for an "interview." They told me on the phone this was a assistant to the manager of a new office they were opening that happened to be in my area. They also told me there was a $75 fee for a background check. I thought this was very unusual, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and decided to go in and check it out. I was shown a very old video about fire safety... Very odd, and shown a presentation about a fire retardant (using real fire... Ok?!). I was like a sales presentation... Very strange. Than I was given a "one on one" interview for a "management" position and was told they would open an office just for me wherever I want! I have no management experience and the questions seemed very staged... "OK, we'll give you a chance, will that be cash or check?" I didn't bring my checkbook nor any cash (thinking, if they hired me, perhaps they might deduct it from my first paycheck?)... and told them I didn't have the money and I was told "well, hopefully we can keep the position open for you." Whatever! This is obviously a group of grifters taking advantage of the tight job market. If you are researching this and went through the same experience, please report it! I am going to report this to BBB and maybe even the LA Country Sheriff's Department! This is plain FRAUD!
Yes...this is another reincarnation of another company. There is another one that operates exactly like this in the San Bernardino area called World Fire Safety. You will undergo the drill....grainy video presentation that looks like it was made circa 1980's...demo of a fire retardant...you will be told that you have a very big opportunity to sell this and open your own office wherever you want...then on to one on one meeting where you will be told that SINCE YOU HAVE NOT BEEN an office manager before, they will train you...you will be their shadow for a while...you will sell their products to a very wide market like fire dept., residences, buildings/offices, etc (products which are available in Walmart and other hardware stores) and get a commission from it...then the kicker - background check of $75 up front. If you don't have it? Well, time may run out for you as this opportunity is limited.
