I've let this go to message center before but they never leave a message. This time I picked up on the 3rd ring and they hung up. HATE these intrusive calls!
I called it back and got an answering machine and started threatining to call the federal trade commishion and some damn Illegal picked up the line saying weato or some thing like that and the machine is in clear english saying something about collecting funds for nonprofit people its a scam and I think the Police need to be involved on this!!
I don't give a damn who it is and I'm sure as hell not going to give money to ANY telemarketer for ANY reason whatsoever. I live 400 miles from Bakersfield and am not interested in supporting their Sheriff's Office. I find it reprehensible that anyone would invade my privacy via an impersonal recorded message in order to solicit my money. When I signed up with the Do Not Call registry, I meant just that: DO NOT CALL! This goes for non-profit and political organizations who for obvious reasons, exempted themselves from the law. This law needs to be rewritten with stiffer penalties for violators...expecially politicians.
Same here.........Caller ID said "Bakersfield, CA" and when I answered this man called me by the name of a roommate that moved out over a year ago. When I said she no longer lived here, he got frantic and said "Oh, sorry, it's just the local firefighters." and hung up abruptly. It was very odd. No matter how you look at this, it's bad.
