People responded to and ad I had on kijiji. They were very persistent about wanting what I was selling. I am from Canada and these people are from California. They sent me an email witch appeared to be from PayPal.
Only to find out it was a phishing attempt. They wanted me to send money to an address before I would receive my money from PayPal. The number they gave me could only receive texts.
These people are horrible to try and take advantage of people.

I received a text from this number regarding a Craig's list ad. He was very interested in what I was selling and claimed he was temporarily out of town. He said he would pay via PayPal and have a company come to pick up the vehicle. He insisted there was no risk to me with the transaction. When I said I was uncomfortable he was very persistent. He would not receive phone calls. Luckily I googled the number and saw the above comment. I am convinced he is a scammer. I have posted to Craig's list about him as a warning. I hope he has not been successful with other scams.
I had item on Craigslist. Person identified as Robert Hammy. Was very insistent on purchasing my motorcycle. Requested my paypal information. A real scammer!!
Same deal....I recently posted a four wheeler on craigslist...one day after...the jerks contacted us...only communicated by texts...wanted us to send $550 for shipping through western union...while the supposed $2500 was in pending transactions in our PayPal acct...come to find out the emails were phony....called western union...they said that isn't the way things normally work...called PayPal...they said that there were NO pending funds in our PayPal acct...and that they have not sent any emails at all to us. At that time...I tried calling the phone number and obviously it wasn't valid. Please don't believe these scammers...
Perhaps you missed reading the warning in Craigslist ... in big, highlighted letters ... "Deal locally, face-to-face —follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts."

"Never wire funds (e.g. Western Union) - anyone who asks you to is a scammer."
We can't help those who refuse to help themselves.
