This number called me aeound 6PM this evening, claiming to be a rep from PETA. Be clear, people: PETA does not cold call non-members, and rarely, if ever, calls its members, especially not to ask for money. It is not how the charity operates. This caller is claiming to be from PETA, and is trying to get your information. Do not say a word to them. Hang up. Spammers and scammers do not have a "Do Not Call" List. They are operating illegally and could not care less if they inconvenience you if they can get credit card info from the next person they call. They cast a very wide net, and use the names of real, reputable charities to fool you. Don't fall for it. Don't even answer uknown numbers, and block them immediately.
"Animal Lover" aka "Bill", if you're quite through with the hissy fits, understand that "not interested" does not equal "stop calling". Commercial fundraisers are relentless and pocket half or more of what they collect. The problem is not "a couple of calls", but waves of them each day over several weeks. Their mission is not charity but profit.
Luckily they must also add people's numbers to internal no-call lists on demand. Anyone who wants to help animals or any other cause has options which do not require funneling through a deceptive middleman.
