I believe there is also a practice/arm of telemarketing wherein their systems call random numbers at different times of the day to see if the phone will answer. Once they verify that the phone will answer at a particular timeslot, they sell that information to other companies.
I am in the Chicago area and received a call from 661-670-2619 today. There was no answer when I picked up. I have also been getting calls from another CA phone number: 323-606-7210. I never picked up and there is never a message left.

Just wondering, a while back there was another Minnesota-based "hired-gun" outfit called "Research Associates" that worked "on behalf of" a bunch of non-profits. Did RA simply change its name?
