My mother received a phone call on her land line this morning around 11:30 or so. Caller claimed he was a grandson and had broken his nose in an accident after a friend's son's wedding. When she pressed him for his name he said "Jack". She told him he had the wrong number (no grandson named " jack"..... )
My grandmother was contacted this morning from a man saying he was her oldest grandson and he had been in a wreck and was in jail and needed money to get out. My grandmother is an old Greek lady and doesn't know English very well and she believed him. She got suspicious and asked the caller what his moms name is and he hung up. He was asking for $1,000. Crazy.
Mother-n-law got a phone call from someone claiming to be granddaughter and that she was in an awful accident and busted her nose up and is now in jail and if she didn't send her some money she would have to stay in jail for eight weeks. Fortunately, my Mother-n-law is a pretty sharp cookie and didn't believe a word of it.
Answered my mom's phone and the caller knew my mom's name. Said he was her oldest grandson. I told him to stop playing games and that I was reporting him.
received a call this am from above number saying Hi Grandma - I attempted to ask which grandson - but they hung up/I called the number was told the number is tapped to call the police. I did so and they came out and took the report. Officer said let other folk know about this.
