This is a Skype #. Do not answer this number. They informed a lady they needed to reimburse her for an overpaid account. She lost over $800.00. False name, false address.
Picked up and it was a man who barely spoke English asking about my Medicare. I could not even understand what he was asking and he didn't answer me if this was a political call. (It's pre-election)
I'm a receptionist, they called Friday, Oct 19, 2012 asking for a woman who's name has never been in our company. The conversation went something like this:
me: We don't have anyone here with that name
him: Is this not [companyname]
me: Yes, but I'm telling you there's no employee named Marcia here
him: What's her last name
me: I have no clue because there's no employee here with that name.
him: I don't believe you! *click*
I researched the number and saw that they're connected to some-type of collector's agency - and read up on what debt collectors can and can't do (ie call a work place is a NO-NO)
They called back again today, like Vee said, barely speak English (a middle eastern accent of some sort). This time they asked for another person. I told them we don't have an employeed named that. He then said that they were looking for them because they borrow over four thousand grand from them. I asked what company they were with, they said Fidelity. (which I don't buy). Tried calling the number back and got a "this number has been disconnected" response. UGH! I wish they'd stop calling.
The person identified themselves as being with the IRS and stated that they were calling because I qualified for an IRA 'rebate' in the amount of $5,000. The person wanted to confirm my correct address, then read off an address that I have never in my life lived at. I told them that the address was incorrect and that I have been living at this address for a long period of time. He said that if I did not feel that the call was legitimate he would put his supervisor on the phone. I waited for a short hold period then another person came on the phone and again wanted to confirm my address, providing the same address that the other gentleman did, which again was incorrect. They both had very strong middle eastern accents.
I told them that if they were legitimately with the IRS that they would have my correct information as I have received correspondence from the IRS at my current address for a long period of time. I told them they could send something to me by mail and asked that they remove my telephone number from their list of callers and to not call me again. I ended the call by hanging up.
