I received this e-mail on July 8, stating that I was being taken to court regarding money that I owe, I don't even know who the money is to be paid to, this e-mail is coming on my work computer. He is stating that he is an attorney.
1. Emails, phone calls & faxes are NOT official notification of anything!
2. It is illegal to claim to be an attorney if you are not.
3. You are not warned if a summons is coming.
4. Ignore him. There are several good posts on what to do a few comments above yours.
received an e-mail saying that a warrant would be issued for my arrest if I didn't contact this number in 48hrs. I did, person "Jason Walker" had enough information to make it seem real.. So swallowed the bait, now after reading the
posts here, realized I was suckered, Also then got a call from 979-212-7016 saying that the other guy was a fraud. But checking that number they both are and must be working together. I reported to FTC, but it was an expensive lesson.
1. It is illegal to make any threats collecting a debt;
2. FBI and FTC does not investigate debt collection matters, I advise that you read some literature;
3. It is illegal to contact anyone's employer for debt collection;
4. You can't just make up a case number without filling in court;
5. The most important - the debt is non-existent and you failed to provide verification in writing.
In other words, not only you are a scam, you are doing it poorly.
I will look forward for you do file a lawsuit against me and we shall see who will end up behind bars.
