Got the same call and from the number 518-800-8136. Those a-holes will never learn. Each they call and leave a message I call them back to let them know their number had reported to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. They hang up immediately...
Wow these people are so bad. They can not even speak English. I called back to see what the scam was. They wanted a 5,450 pay to stop the police from coming to arrest me. That it is an automatic process when you hang up the phone. I wish there was a way to get them but unfortunately the are clearly overseas and prob. Will never be held accountable
Someone called pretending I had a serious legal problem. Here is the message.
"Smith action executed by the United States treasury and tending your serious attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid an issue appearance before magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offfense. My number is 667-309-1036. I repeat 667-309-1036. I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank you."
Note: Common sense caused me to not call them back.
Believe me, folks, if the government wanted you for some reason, they'd contact you on official stationery by US mail. Due to identity theft, never give any information out to these callers. Legitimate people do not call on the phone. Scammers do. Usually, they sound like they can barely speak English. Often, they won't even know your name, because they dial random people. Don't talk to these idiots or call them back.
