Called at 8:30 p.m. on a Sunday. Who the frick does that???
Oh yea -- these morons.
See, my father was a schoolteacher, and to avoid getting the occasional prank call from his students, a long, long time ago we had our phone listing, our public listing if you will, put under the maiden name of my mother. So now the entry on most online records and definitely the phone book has it [her maiden name] [her initial] [our family's last name].
This idiot is always the same person calling. A male. "Is [her maiden name] there? Hello??"
And hangs up.
I have no idea who he is, who he works for, but the very fact that he asks for the name that is in the phone book tells me that this is either a telemarketer or an idiot (is there a difference?).
Caller ID showed "I" - hit the blacklist button on our call blocker. Called the number back (using *67 to block my outgoing caller ID) and got a generic recorded message - "fundraising" office closed, please try later. Bye-bye!
I decided to pick up the phone and say nothing. Caller also said nothing and hung up. A legit Firefighters organization or Police organization would never do that.
Claimed the firefighters get at least 12% of my donation. I asked where the other 88% go and the person gave me some bull saying help pay for the cost of getting donations and its is not tax deductible. No joke it is going to the telemarketer's pocket. Go figure and this type of crap is considered legal as charitable organizations allowed to call individuals even though it is using a name of a charitable organization.
