Called this morning. Obviously a scam call. Wanted to send me information about Medicare extra benefits. I let it go to answering machine. The call was just bizarre. The guy obviously was reading from a script. When I let it go to answering machine, he just kept on talking like I was there. I don't know why these scammers think all old people suddenly get stupid.
I don't have a clue if these calls are legit but if you're "lucky" enough to have them leave a message on an answering machine, it's the most bizarre *hit you'll ever hear. Okay, I realize a script is being followed but the person that's been calling really takes it into overdrive. I guess nobody told him to cut the script short if nobody picks up and the call goes to an answering machine. Try not to say the parts of the script and act like you're waiting for an answer and that you RECEIVED an answer:
paraphrasing guy that called: How are you doing today?
No reply since nobody picked up
guy that called: Terrific Terrific!
What the hell? I hope one day I can pick up the phone in time and tell the guy I'm about to drop dead or something along those lines. I bet he doesn't change the script a bit--he'll still say "terrific terrific!"
Received call around 9:35a.m. today. Voice mail said they were calling with special offers for Medicare patients only. That was all they said. Heavily accented male voice.
