Got a call from a supposed debt collection company about a debt I owed to some payday loan company. Very little info, very suspicious. Address of the company is in Utah but the number calling me was from Georgia. Letterhead has no contact numbers, just an address. No website, no BBB reports, and unable to find any info from any other site on this collection company. Stephen Calldwell is the caller, very rude, impatient and aggressive. Talked down to me like I was stupid for not going along with what he was telling me. Tried to get my bank account info to make a payment on the debt. I reported him to the consumer protection bureau.
I forgot to add,, once I updated my voters registration with a new address, that's when they started to harass me over the phone, never Thur the mail..so don't update your voters information CB they can buy those lists
Got a call from a Jason Cobb, claiming he was calling from the legal department of NCR and that he was calling on a file that was placed with them in my County. I did not call back, I get a lot of these calls and they are claiming it is a payday loan. The only payday loan that I took out has been paid for years now so that is how I know it is a scam. Don't give any info
They are using a new #1-855-397-3395. Received 2 nasty voicemails from a Melissa Carter, scared my daughter senseless. I called them back and Jason Cobb answered. Very aggressive and to an unsuspecting older or younger person...very believable. He was being "kind enough" to contact me about a delinquent account through "Lend Me Now"...he could care less if legal action was taken towards me he stated, he wanted to let me know and try to help me keep my credit report clean. I called his bluff, asking him what he wanted...my SS #, my credit card # or my bank routing #. He thought he had me, but once I kept asking for my acct# with Lend Me Now and a contact # for them (also managed to tell him his mom must be very proud of the work he does), the more I pressed for this info he finally hung up...FYI I'm very soft spoken and never raised my voice. Just to play around I called back and told the person who answered the phone that I was hung up on trying to get the information I needed to rectify my "delinquent account"...hung up on again.
