I recently got a call from this number as well promising to buy a puppy that we are selling the people sent us a cashiers check for $600 over the price of the dog and asked us to forward the difference to there movers this number is also associated with 919 - 415 - 641 - do not trust this person.
My husband was looking up jobs on Craigslist in the Lake Charles, LA area. When he showed interest in a "Roofing and Siding" job, he received an email with a bizarre job offer to clean an unfurnished, 2 bedroom apartment as the reply for that particular job. This man claimed his name was "Richard Torres". He wanted the apartment cleaned well, and offered my husband $800 a week to do so. Even though we both thought it was weird that a "roofing and siding" job magically turned into an apartment cleaning job, my husband still said he would do it. I mean, who wouldn't? Richard claimed that he was working out of the country but wanted the apartment cleaned and finished by June 4, 2016. His reason was because he was bringing guests along with him when he arrived in Lake Charles. He told my husband that he would get his agent to send him the apartment keys, half of a whole paycheck, and an extra $100.00 for cleaning supplies that he would need. He asked for my husband's information..like name, address, cell phone #, what his age and sex was, and my husbands current occupation. To which my husband received a text message at 11:30 at night trying to confirm plans for this cleaning job. He texted him back asking when he would be getting more detailed information, he was never told where the actual location of the apartment was or in detail of what was really to be done because he would like to start as soon as possible. He still has yet to get reply from "Richard Torres", the man with the phone # of 678-948-7492. I, then felt like something was really messed up about this and searched the number and found out its a scammer. Whoever this individual is has my husbands information and im wondering if i should get really worried. I guess you live and you learn, everything isnt what it claims to be. But i cant help but to wonder why this number is still a working number??
I suppose Craigslist, when it started out, was a great thing. Nowadays I would NEVER use it to find a job-too many scammers out there. I'm betting that 'half-a-paycheck' would have bounced and then they'd have your bank info
