I live in Ohio and received a call from a Ms. Burke or Ms. Birch, in reference to a complaint that was filed with her office and needed a statement from me. She is calling me from Georgia. Is this legitimate?
Came up on my caller ID as "fraud division" I picked up. A woman said that someone has lodged a fraud complaint against me and they need my statement. The woman told me to call the number back. She didn't say who she is, what her company is, or anything. I listened, I didn't speak, and then I hung up.
Got a voice mail from a male for my son who said someone filed a fraud complaint against him and he needed his my statement. No request to call back or any further information. The first time this number called about 2 weeks ago there was no message at all and the caller ID said Georgia Comptroller. Neither one of us will be calling back.
