I live in Ohio and received a call from a Ms. Burke or Ms. Birch, in reference to a complaint that was filed with her office and needed a statement from me. She is calling me from Georgia. Is this legitimate?
Most likely a debt collection scam. A favorite phrase of the your debt scammer is to cold call someone and say a "complaint" has been filed against you. Debt collectors do not have complaints. They have supposed debts they are trying to collect. Do not return the call and do not give them any information if you do. Ignore and block the calls.
So I called back because of the voicemail and a deep male voice answers looks up my number and says I committed check fraud. So I said thanks but no thanks and he threatens me and says "don't drive after midnight" and then hangs up.
a complaint has been filed..........call back...... to "office" doesn't this sound "official"? top drawer, first class, legitimate! why, all those key phrases sounds like a downtown law firm employing hundreds! what shall i do?
I keep getting calls from this number. Saying they can send me mail if I have to have it to prove they are legit! I just laughed and told him God has a special place in hell for people who try and scam people out of their money! Shameful!
