ALEXANDER & STEFANO
COLLECTION AGENCY
CALLER ID: FORT WORTH, TEXAS (682) 200-2349
That's odd. Their offices are only listed in New York state. Sounds like call id fraud.
This is a collection agency. They have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. Which means they've probably been sued by hundreds of consumers and innocent people for fraudulent collection practices. The best way to make collection agencies to stop calling your phone number or any phone number where those people leave you a message (including neighbors, employment) is to say the following, "Cease all verbal communication". Write down the collector's name, date, time. You may also send a mail certified letter telling them to cease all phone call collections. You may want to receive letters from them to keep on file. But if you do not owe anything, tell them to cease all written communication as well. Keep a copy of the certified letter for your records. You can sue them and probably settle for a minimum $1,500 or much more depending on how they are unlawfully harassing you. Google "FDCPA" Fair Debt Collections Practices Act. It will explain your legal rights as a debtor.
They are using a FAKE CALLER ID phone number: Fort Worth, TX 682-200-2349 (doing the above is illegal)
They ask for one of my family member's name who does not live at my phone number. They skip traced it for relatives (me). I asked if they were a collection agency. They said yes. I told them to send a letter to the address on file for the person they were looking for. They said, "We do not have the address, we need the address." I laughed pretty hard about that. If they were doing collections, they would have the address. This sounds like they are illegally trying to collect on a debt that was either discharged through bankruptcy long ago, disposed of because of a death and want a spouse to pay or trying to collect on a debt that was never owed. They never verified any debt! I know, I talked to the person they were looking for. This person said their bankruptcy discharged in 2008. No outstanding debts since then. So they are obviously collecting on a debt that does not exist. This is illegal. They can be sued as noted by someone else here.
