I got the same thing just now.. Knowing that people can sometimes fake the number they are calling from, I instead called the toll free number. It was legitimate. Someone had used my card to spend $250 at Sams Club, and had just tried use it again
Seems to be a while since anyone reported this number, but they called me about noon. Didn't answer, but the voicemail message was an automated one saying a temporary hold had been placed on my account....funny how that is, I've never even applied for an NFCU account-I was in the AF, not the Navy....I do NOT have an account with them. Do NOT know how they got my number.
Less than 2 hours ago I called Navy Federal to report a lost card. Now I'm getting an automated phone call? Since I DO NOT answer numbers I don't recognized, it went straight to my voice mail. All I got in voice mail was 3 seconds of music.
I did not confirm it was Navy federal, only did a reverse look up on the phone number.
We got a call tonight. It was Navy Federal Credit Union checking on some questionable charges on our Visa account today. They WERE fraudulent charges -- halfway across the country and for hundreds of dollars -- so we were grateful for the call.
Call from NFCU fraud prevention because I used my card in 3 different countries within a month. Kinda funny since I think they would expect people to travel whilst serving in the Military. Suspicious at first of this call, but only asked to verify my zip code and if I had made specific charges.
It was NFCU, yes my bank, calling regarding my account and "suspicious" items. I spoke with an agent on their phone number listed on the site and she verified they were trying to contact me. This is not a scam (I thought it was!) :D
