Phone number is still dialing people. Now it's just silence, followed by an automated voice that says Goodbye. It's even more annoying that the call came in before 6 am.
I received a call from a 1-800 number by a heavily accent man (perhaps Indian) telling me to call back at 703-542-1704. He claimed I was going to be arrested for tax fraud if I didn't respond to his phone call. Definitely feels like a scam to me.
Too many posters apparently have not the wherewithal to type "IRS scam" in their favorite search engine.
However, we are getting closer and closer to Tax Day in the USA, so we can expect even more of those scam calls ... and even more answers from regular responders in 800notes ... and continued lack of proof that people are actually reading the answers!
Received a call with the same callback number 703-542-1704. This was after I had hung up on him a few hours earlier when he asked for my daughter who moved away five year ago. Same scenario; caller was Indian accented and I was to call back before I got arrested.
