This number is legit. Her name is Pat, she does call for AMVETS. We have been getting her calls for over 10 years. She has gotten a lot older over the years and doesn't sound as clear as she used to, but she's harmless, just a volunteer. If you just tell her you don't have anything she won't call for awhile. Her name doesn't show up on our caller id anymore so I haven't answered it, I'm glad I came here to see what the number was so I'll answer next time. We've had some lovely conversations in the past.
I've gotten lots of calls from this number. I never answer them. They called a couple of nights ago past 9pm. I finally called it back today. I got some old woman that asked me my name. Told her a name. I told her I was returning a call from this number. Then she asked where I was calling from and my last name. I told I didn't give that information out and she hung up on me. Next time it rings I will make sure I answer it and let them have it.
This is an older woman who schedules pickups for donations to AMVETS - they come to your house to pickup household items, toys, clothing - anything you'd like to donate and then AMVETS sells it in their thrift stores to benefit veterans. It's for a good cause, and she's a volunteer, I'd go easy on her. :o)
Definitely a legit organization, however, same old lady calls everytime. I dont like puting the lady down, but I think they would solicit better donations if I could actually understand the woman. She sounds a little creepy.
I understand that this is for a great cause, but as previously noted...you can't understand a word she says and then she got pissy with me when I asked her to please repeat herself. She told ME that she won't bother calling back...SO, I may have nipped that in the bud....no more "Otto Charles" on my caller ID...
