Received the call several times today from same number. My fake irs guys name was Daniel smith. He said the police were coming to arrest me in the next half hour if I didn't pay. I finally said okay I will pay whatever amount they wanted me to just so I didn't get arrested. I asked him if I could wire the amount to him or give him all my personal info. He started getting snappy with me and told me not to get smart and just pay up and I told him I knew This had to be a scam and he told me to f*** off you mother f***^^ and hung up on me. I think I mad them mad
I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone. US mail only. IRS does not file lawsuits. Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter. But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes. IRS has no powers of arrest. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of money. IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case. No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments. Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement. All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals. All contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
They called my mother and said she owed 2900 something to the irs and that a sheriff will be coming to arrest tomorrow if not paid in full today and when she said maybe she can borrow it from someone they said if she does she can't tell any one she is paying off the irs
Also that they tried to send people out twice to contact but no one who's home
Wouldn't the real IRS MAIL THING LIKE THIS
Saying if she doesn't pay she'll lose her. Retirement And social security
Did you read CGW's post above? I hope your mother did not send them any money. I guess I'm lucky that my mother who is in her mid 80's is still sharp as a tack and won't put up with their crap, Yepper they call her saying they were IRS and wanted her to pay 2800.00 that day or they would send the police to arrest her. She just said she would wait for them to show up with a friend(retired sheriff) of my father to greet them. Needless to say a no show, My Mother would have fun loading them up with salt rock from one barrel of that 12ga and if that didn't work to get their attention 00 buck would be next. Knowing her she would have two extra shell stuck between her fingers for fast reloading. You just don't mess around old country women, hell she'll still reach up and grab my ear lobe and twist if I make her mad about anything.
I am also receiving calls from this number i just blocked them... on your mobile phone go to call log then view number once the number is on your sceen you have the option of blocking it, or add to reject list.
caller claimed to be Michael Brown from the IRS, ID#161092. He claimed I would be arrested due to tax fraud and began quoting years that were audited but have already been settled and then he picked a different year for which I have a payment plan already so he claimed it was 2014 which is on extension and has not been filed so then he just said I had to pay $1200 to settle back taxes immediately or sheriffs would come to my house within the hour but he gave an address that was 3 years old and two moves ago.
