I received a call from that number today on my answering machine. Said they were from the IRS tax evasion department and that i needed to return the call or they would get the sheriff out to detain me until I did return the call. I called back and spoke with a David Jackson (definitely not his real name) who when asked what it was about, hung up on me. I called back and spoke with a "Michelle" who said that I needed to get her the name of my criminal attorney so that they could press charges. I called the Sheriff's office and they are well aware of this scam. Scary stuff.
Am being swamped with calls and messages from this fake IRS number over the last 3 days - same MO as reported by other posters. Pathetic extortion attempt complete with heavily accented English together with background noises from a low end call center operation.
I received two to calls today from the IRS Tax crime investigation unit. Heavy accented woman my wife called back and stated I wasn't home ( I was) and wanted to know what it was about , the woman hung up. So my wife was pissed and called back , officer Amy Brown with Spanish accent answered badge #4025 she stated we had an arrest warrant we going to lose our house and kids to foster care. My wife was really shooken up. So I called the Lynn PD & I said the IRS called the officer cut me off stating it's a scam. I gave them the number and officer called Amy Brown back she answered and quickly hung up when told it was the police. Total Scum Bags
