I just got 2 calls from the same number. First of all, they called at 7:00am, outside of the allowable telemarketing call times and second of all, the man (with a heavy Indian accent) was very rude and threatening.
I am reporting this number to the local police as well as to whatever national fraud numbers I can find. Although I would never have been taken in by their fake threats about the IRS, there are plenty of people who would have, and the damage to their lives and finances could be irrevocable. Outrageous. This is so phony they even used ridiculously unprofessional language.
My client received a call from this number today threatening legal action for "fraudulent activity" on his return. I called them back as their tax preparer demanding his ID, who he reports to at the IRS and what basis he had to verify his intention. He immediately hung up. He said his name was "Steve Even" in an Indian accent. Total jerk.
