That information was very important and helpful to alot of people! I personally knew this but I tried to tell some people it was a scam they didn't listen to me but they believe you. Either way I'm glad they know now. A big help.
Just got a call from 703-879-7182 claiming to be the legal department of the IRS. He has an affidavit claiming there was miscalculation in my taxes between 2009 and 2012 for the amount of $3,000 and change and the IRS is suing me in two courts - tax fraud and tax evasion. I decided to have a little fun with him without giving him any personal information. His name, by the way, was Jones Roy with an East Indian accent. I asked him if Jones was his first name and he said yes. He tried very hard to scare me that letting this go to court could cost me up to $72,000 plus legal fees but we could settle this out of court. First I had to qualify for the "out of court" program...he gave me an acronym but I can't remember it. Once I qualified, he needed to transfer me to his supervisor. This is how it works - he said he will put me on hold, I would wait 10 seconds then say, "I'm here, I'm here, I'm here". I chuckled and said it sounded fun. He asked me if I thought this process was a joke and I said, "YES! I think it's all a bunch of [***]!". So he said he would be calling the Sherriff's office to come and arrest me. I said, "Great! I'll wait by the door.
To a few you above...unless there is new technology that I am unaware of, it's "land" line as opposed to cell phone. This is because the phone lines travel across the land and is not wireless (except for "cordless" phone which still needs a base unit that plugs into the wall with a CHORD!) I don't know what LAN line is.
They just called me too,. I m an accountant with 35 years of tax experience, as is my CPA wife. Fortunately, we called back to settle the matter. Happily, I just found out I am an heir to a US Principality, possibly to become King someday. Unfortunately, because of court costs and back fees, I need some financial help in getting the bank to release my great fortune, which I would gladly share, with the IRS agents who called. All they have to do, is wire me a small sum.
