Same thing, although my phone call was from 213-337-2559 - they wouldn't give me time to discuss the offer with my spouse and said it was a "live" offer. They did have my IHG rewards number and point balance, so it seems like they are legitimately connected with them somehow. I didn't bite but did keep them on the phone for 20 minutes.
Be smart folks. A reputable company would never ask for sensitive information through the phone just to "update" their records or offer you free trips. If it's free, why do they need your CC number? If all they did was offer free trips to everyone, how would a company survive? I never answer numbers that I don't recognize. Especially, if it's an out of state number. The way I see it, if I'm not important enough for them to leave a voicemail, then they're not important enough to call back. Don't be that person that was dumb enough to wind up on the evening news because they got ripped off when somebody told them they won the billion dollar South African lottery, and had to send $10,000 to release the winnings. Don't be that person.
unless a disgruntled or poor employee sold all our info to a scammer/spammer. Had it happen with DMV before. Was the only place my name was misspelled with 3 Ns instead of 2 and started getting all kinds of insurance stuff and nissan warranty stuff misspelled the same way.
