Same thing, although my phone call was from 213-337-2559 - they wouldn't give me time to discuss the offer with my spouse and said it was a "live" offer. They did have my IHG rewards number and point balance, so it seems like they are legitimately connected with them somehow. I didn't bite but did keep them on the phone for 20 minutes.
This is NOT IHG but a fraudster phishing for info!
I also got a call from them on a Saturday at about 2:30. Same as above. First they asked me for MY NAME . . . uh, you should already have that. I told them this is Mr. <last name>. They asked me for my IHG#. I asked them if this was a 'Time Share' type offer. She asked me where I would like to go for a 'free' vacation. I again asked if this was for a 'Time Share' type deal. She said yes, that IHG was setting up . . . I stopped her right there and said I wasn't interested. She got a little belligerent and asked why I wouldn't want a free trip. I hung up.
Next, I called the REAL IHG (I use them for travel). They said they do NOT 'cold call' and they do NOT solicit customers like this. Basically, it WAS NOT IHG calling but most likely a fraudster phishing for info. I will follow up with IHG's IT/Security people on Monday (I recommended that they put out on their website that it is NOT them . . .
Co. Claiming to be Ihg... i dont give personal info over phone especially cc and such. I hg doesnt do that. Fraudulent calls. Watch ur backs out there pple.
