Got the same call. I never answer calls I don't recognize because it only lets the scammer know they have a live number. I don't get these type calls that often but thanks to 800Notes and all the people who post their experiences, I and people like me are grateful for your input.
I believe that the double 1's preceding the number I read in a post above could be a call from overseas.
Technology being what it is, predatory callers anywhere can spoof the caller ID to anything they want it to be.
I once received a call from a well known bank here in the USA (according to the caller ID). The caller left a message that I was overdrawn on my checking account and to avoid any penalty I should call them back.
The only flaw with their call was I didn't have an account with that bank. If it was my bank, I would go online or call them directly to see if there was a problem with my account.
Rec'd a call on my cell during work hours, "accidentally" answered as though for the law firm at which I am employed. Caller disconnected the call immediately.
