This guy called and said that I was being recorded on a federally recorded line. I was told that I had committed federal deception because I had a cash advance and my bank did not allow for them to extract funds from my account. I was told that I was being sued or I could settle the debt by paying with a debit/credit card or by paying by western union. I could barely understand the guy because he had a thick accent. There was a lot of talking in the back ground and I am unsure if this is a scam or not. I have two cash advance loans but am up to date on them. What should I do?
This guy keeps calling me at work. They first asked for me and when I got on the phone he said this is not Jennifer, I want to speak with Jennifer. I kept telling him it was me and then he asked well what is your birthdate then, I of course wasn't going to give him that. Well he hung up on me and called back and kept arguing that I was not Jennifer. He told me "shut up you [***]", several times. Well at first I got mad but I think it pisses them off more if you don't get mad. Anyway, he hasn't called back since when he called and I answered and found out it was him I said, "Operator, this is the call." Then hung up on him. I have heard you can also say the word "Trap", what time it is and the date, and hang up. I called the number back and they say it is DFF. Looked that up online and it stands for Defending Financial Fraud.
I got scammed. They called me and stated I owed a back debt and if I did not send him 1,000. dollars state in prepaid visa card I was going to jail and the police would be at my house. I did send the money and also they called back and stated I had 15 minutes to fax over my Driver's Licese and SS # or the police would be there in 15 minutes. I know now it was a scam. I contacted Home line security and police taking the steps I need. closed my account. getting new driver's license and SS card. Please BEWARE. I learned my lesson the hard way. The man goes by Mario, Owen Miller, Has a thick accent.
Received 10 phone calls in 10 minutes from the same number. Hung up or did not answer at all. Called the NC Attorney General who claimed that this is a fraudulent company and to not pay anything to these people. Also, they could call from other numbers. Regardless of whether or not you have a pay day loan, what these people are doing is a scam.
