guy named jim kopish called me from east valley financial said he could cut my interest rates in half with no out of pocket expense (fee is $795) wanted my credit card numbers. Told him I was not giving him that info and I asked him how he got my info and he said his company has called me several times before which I would remember if that was the case. He was adamant that I should trust him and give him my cc info if I would like to lower my payments. When I tried to get him to mail me info he just kept talking so I just hung up on him and then googled to find this info.
I believe these folks first called my husband (he had set up an internet business, and his number has gotten all OVER the place for scams and MLM's), and somehow convinced him that they were more legitimate than the other groups that call offering to help lower credit card rates, etc. Since I handle the finances in our household, hubby gave them my number. For over a week now, I have gotten approx 1 call per day from this number. NEVER do they leave a message. I am certain that if it were a legitimate company, they would leave a message to some effect, no?
To be fair, I have not answered the phone, but based on other comments, sounds like the same gig. Going to call my phone company and have the number blocked.
Yes, the guy that just called me was named Jim Kopish with East Financial and listed a few cc I had but also wanted to help me lower my interest rate with a cost of $995. He wanted me to provide my cc number and then I told him I was on my way out and if he would leave me his number, I would call him back. He immediately disconnected the call. Also, I received a call from a female a week before setting me up that a rep would follow up with me in the following week.
Please know, there are too many agencies and non-profits that are willing to provide you the same assistance with cc debt for no or very low cost.
