Received two computer voice generated calls this afternoon from 704-314-6499 stating, "this call is officially a final notice from IRS Internal Revenue Services". "The reason of this call is to inform you the IRS is filing lawsuit against you." "To get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number 704-314-6499, thank you." At least the scammer was polite and thanked me at the end of the call! NO ONE HAS REPORTED THIS NUMBER BEFORE concerning scammers, so pass it on. It comes back to a North Carolina exchange. The calls were about 2 hours apart. I turned off the answering machine as the phone rang for the third time w/i 2 min's of the last call. They must be desperate for suckers money to call me twice in a day.
I got phone call from 704-314-6499 said about this is from IRS final notice. It must be a scam. I'm tax professional so I am pretty sure IRS will mail you the notice instead of just make a call like that. Be aware of it!
We got three calls today with the same messages as above. I feel the same way the IRS would mail you a letter or either have certified mail sent to you if it was that important and not do it in the form of a message. Be on alert from this number. Please do not give any of your information to any of these people as I feel this is a scam as well. We use to own a computer business in NC and we would see these scammers all the time trying to sucker people out of money and at least 60% of people would do it and get their pc's infected and bank account info stolen.
The call wasn't spoofed, that was the actual number they left for me to call them. Spoofing that will not allow you to contact the scammer. I don't want to block anything, I never answer the call, just record it and post the info to alert others about the scammer. Be nice to have a web site where we could upload the calls, a repository for scam calls that others can listen to and alert their family and neighbors to the scam. It won't help everyone but will cost the scammers some potential customers/victims. Did anyone call Cricket Wireless to alert them to the scam mobile phone they provided?
