I missed the call from this number. I called the number back, and received a Verizon Wireless tele-prompt asking me to enter my ten-digit Verizon Wireless number. I do not use Verizon Wireless and have not used Verizon Wireless in the past. I did not press any button in response to the prompts and eventually the prompts asked me for information concerning prepaid phones from Wal-Mart. This may be a phishing scam.
Got a call at 10:45 this AM. No caller ID. Since I didn't recognize the number, I didn't answer the phone, suspecting it's yet another telemarketer who doesn't respect the DoNotCall registry laws. I keep hearing that the FTC just doesn't have the resources to enforce this effectively. It's really annoying paying $60 a month for a landline that I hold onto just because it's tied into my home security system and otherwise really don't use. Instead of blocking selected phone numbers, I wish the system were set up that only phone numbers I recognized and programmed into the phone somehow got through.
a Robo-call?
I picked up, IT hung up.
I called # back to see if a human was on the other end, voicemail, or what.
Got a Verizon announcement :
"disconnected or no longer in service"
Free Bahamas cruise Scam. Just pay the taxes and port fees. They want your credit card number for the fees. Yea Right.
I guess they keep making the calls because there are Idiots out there that fall for the scam and actually give them the credit card numbers. There's a sucker born every minute.
