Received a recorded message (3 within 10min) from what appeared to be a local number but the return number was 704-886-0994. I have fallen prey to these types of scammers in the past and do not intend on calling back but was wondering if anyone else had been contacted by this company. If so, is it legititmate?
Here is the message left "Steve here in the office to complete a service of process for you to appear in court before Judge. So at this point of time it is your legal right to contact the plaintiff prior to your order being submitted over to the
county they can be reached at 7048860994. Failure to comply can result in a dispatch of the proper authorities either at your place of employment or your place of residence but the record show that you have officially been notified. Good luck."
I received a message on my answering machine today (9-26-14) to call that 704-886-0994 number. The person who left the message came from a local number 972-441-5692 and his voice sounded like a recording.
The message he left sounded like this : "This message is for _________. This is to complete a service of process for you to appear in court before Judge. He was looking for a specific person (not me) since they mentioned that person by name. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST! UGHHHHH
The DNC does not apply to debt collectors - they fall under the FDCPA laws. This operation is a extortion scam. They will not care if your the person they are looking for or not. The information is under my post on page one though to report them.
