Recorded message says that the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me!!!! What should I do??? J/K. .. LOL! (Lest anyone believe that I was serious.) Blocking this number now. You should do the same.
"This is officer from the IRS. We have been trying to reach you. This call is a official and final call from the IRS. The reason from the call is to inform you that we have filed a lawsuit against you."
I knew it was a scam, but called back anyway. It was hilarious. She had a script that she had to read, and it was difficult for me to get her to "get to the point". Finally, she said that I owed $3500 and I agreed with that number. Then I said that I would send a check immediately. She said, "what", why would you do that?". I said, well, you said I owed money, so I will just take care of it, by sending a check to the IRS. She hung up! Bottom line, they don't want payment, they want a credit card number. I don't pay my taxes with a credit card... Anyway, it was entertainment for the afternoon, and that number is blocked so there can be no more calls from that number. Typically, they will call back again today, from another number, and then at least twice for the next few days. That's the way it has happened in the past.
Yes this it the tired old IRS scam. I get about 3 robo calls a week, all from different numbers. 908-736-6560, 812-827-4796, 719-220-7012, 707-306-0577, 646-568-1992, 630-318-4762, 281-972-8932, 213-709-7536, 213-141-5163, 202-803-4318 are other numbers they use. All with the same threatening message. I keep thinking I will call and harass them back but I have better use of my time.
"IRS". The call was so garbled I could hardly understand what was being said. Aren't they scamming enough money to keep their equipment in working order?
