Same, wanted me to give them a second number to unsubscribe and when I wouldn't they made something and had the nerve to tell me I couldn't "raise my voice". Said they were not required to do as I asked.
American Reader Services called me from 708329-6444 at my office today, 6/09/2015, and said I have been a subscriber for 5 years of a # magazines, and my account is up for renewal to receive their magazines for another 5 years. The lady said she needed my age and 3 other personal pieces of information. I replied I was not a subscriber, had never ordered or received their magazines, & did not wish to receive any. I asked what my [alleged] account number was, & she said she did not have it. I asked where the home office of American Reader Services was, & she hesitated, took 30 seconds, replied 221 W. Kansas Street, El Paso, Texas. I asked to speak to her Supervisor, in order to ensure I was cancelled out & would not be sent any magazines; she refused this unless I first gave her the answers to her 4 personal questions. I said I would not, was not a member, & did not wish to subscribe. She hung up. I clicked on Google & saw many such complaints
Smart Savers Shopping called me from 70-8329-6444 today,6/16/2015, and said I have been a subscriber for 5 years of a # magazines, and my account is up for renewal to receive their magazines for another 5 years. I didnt remeber sighning up for anything but I know i get a few of the magazines she names. I said I would like to cancel my renewal and was transferred to a supervisor named Tyler. He asked me to verify my Mastercard and that all he needed was the expiration date. I told him I never had a Mastercard in my name and he tried to convince me that I probably just dont remember because I signed up so long ago and I probably have a different card now. I told him to leave everything as is and when I could get my statement to see what I was being charged that I would call back and take care of it. He informed me that I had a $2,500 balance that he could cut in have if I chose to renew right now and if I chose not to renew then it could have an impact on my credit in the future. I told him i did not wish to receive anymore magazines and he told me I would be charged over $2,500. I said well I don't know what to tell you and he cut me off and said have a blessed day then hung up
i got a call from 708 329 6444 as well trying to tell me i need to pay $59 95 a month for magazines i never ordered. i never got a bill yet they are a scam. they gave me a 855 995 3360 number for to cancel this i did call they said ok that i would not be billed. they are a big time scam
Got a call from American Reader Services 708-329-6444 told the lady that first talk to me I didn't not want signed up for any thing or entered in anything and she did inform me that was what it was but I could be transformed to her manager and every thing would be taken care of and I'd be removed. Great I thought! Nope, I ended up upset and in tears. I was told I must of started a promotion and never canceled with in 30 days which I just don't do and how she just wants to help some one like me get the cheapest deal... or she could just start billing me the 30 payments of 75 dollars now. I'm 27, disabled and can not work due to a brainstem tumor.im careful not to get in to monthly things I know this is a scam.
