Smart Savers Shopping called me from 70-8329-6444 today,6/16/2015, and said I have been a subscriber for 5 years of a # magazines, and my account is up for renewal to receive their magazines for another 5 years. I didnt remeber sighning up for anything but I know i get a few of the magazines she names. I said I would like to cancel my renewal and was transferred to a supervisor named Tyler. He asked me to verify my Mastercard and that all he needed was the expiration date. I told him I never had a Mastercard in my name and he tried to convince me that I probably just dont remember because I signed up so long ago and I probably have a different card now. I told him to leave everything as is and when I could get my statement to see what I was being charged that I would call back and take care of it. He informed me that I had a $2,500 balance that he could cut in have if I chose to renew right now and if I chose not to renew then it could have an impact on my credit in the future. I told him i did not wish to receive anymore magazines and he told me I would be charged over $2,500. I said well I don't know what to tell you and he cut me off and said have a blessed day then hung up
Same, wanted me to give them a second number to unsubscribe and when I wouldn't they made something and had the nerve to tell me I couldn't "raise my voice". Said they were not required to do as I asked.
I just received a call , they never said who they were. I first spoke to a woman that wanted my marital status, age and occupation. Then said my subscription was on automatic renewal. I said if they are free sure , why not. She said no they weren't. I said I don't want them then , she transferred me to the supervisor Chris. I asked how I started receiving them in the first place. He said it was a bonus from my visa or MasterCard. I said that's pretty vague. I repeated I never ordered. He said in fact u did and have been charged. I said I don't know how, because I've never seen anything I. My statements. He promptly hung up. So I started calling them . They hung up on me before even answering. I called 8 times. Lol. This is such a joke. But now it's have their number , figuratively and literally. I'm gonna call them at dinner time every night.
This company called me today stating the same as above, that I have has a subscription to 5 different magazines and it was up for renewal.
She proceeded to ask if I was still at an address I moved from 4 years ago!! Also, that if I didn't provide my new address, she could not stop the renewal and I would continue to get the magazines.....magazines I have not rec'd in over 4 years !!!! What ??????
And stated the billing would catch up to me and I would have to pay for these magazines! Are you kidding me really ???
I got this call today and it was the same as above. They mentioned that they had to get an updated card to cancel my auto renew, and i refused to give a card. i asked to speak to a supervisor and got chris smith he said... yeah chris smith nice one. he said all the same thing, they did have my old address on file and 2 either expired credit cards or cards I never had, cant really remember. He said that their system collects updated credit card info automatically if one expires so I will be charged no matter what but he wanted to help me cancel the auto renew and need my card info since they cannot see it....... SCAM right there. I asked him for a corporate number and he gave me 855-995-3335 which i looked up and has the same issues as this number. I asked for the address of the company and he said he didnt know he was at a call center and didnt know the corporate address, it would be on the info he sent me. i told him he has an old address and if he needs anything from me since i wont give him my card info. He said no (then how am I going to get the paperwork) and he hung up. I also had asked him for him to email me a copy of what i signed electronically and he didnt know what to say and made something up like i didnt sign anything, i signed up for something and yada yada yada. Such a scam but im keeping an eye on my statements.
This number called me today. The company is American Reader Services. They did not leave message, and when I called back. I received an automated message that gave me options to find out why they called and options to be taken off their lusts. Just call after 4pm EST on a Friday or a Holiday. No fights. No drama, no problems.
