A woman with Pakistani- Indian accent call said she was from IRS and was investigating serious allegation against us. Asked us to call back right away. This sounds very fraudulent and needs to be investigated by IRS, FBI.
I was surprised that this fake IRS call would actually leave a message for you to call back. Needless to say I did not call back because I know it is a fraudulent call. I guess this is one way for them to call you back if they think they have a sucker on the line. Too bad people still fall for this scheme.
I got a phone message from these people as well, but what I did was call them back and told them I was from the IRS and I knew they weren't. Then I told them that if they call me again that I would throw them in jail. Their response was they hung up on me. So I called them back and got another person and told him the same thing, and once again they hung up. So I guess they weren't from the IRS. Just to put this out there, I've worked as a tax professional for many years and I know for a fact that IRS will never make first contact by calling you. They will send out a letter and ask you to call them. Also they will never email you. So if you receive a call or email from someone saying they are from the IRS, they are scamming you. The only time the IRS will contact you by phone is if you called regarding a notice that they have sent to you via mail. So if you read this please forward to all your family and friends, so they don't get scammed by this.
