Yes, definitely a scam but to what end? They refuse to take numbers off their list, or if they do they just call back from a different number. Yet ANY question you ask immediately annoys them and they hang up on you. The call back number brings you to a message saying "the current promotion has ended" so it's obviously some kind of scam. But, as bizarre as this is, it seems the only thing these operators are being paid to do is annoy people.
Caller started with a canned message about how he was following up on our previous conversation about student loans (blatant lie). Chris picked up and wanted to explain Obama's new student loan programs.
Said they were calling people in my area. Wanted my information to be able to remove me from the robo - dial list.
Same pre-record for drug/alcohol abuse to my cell phone (on the DNC) again. This time, pressed one and the phone rang for a while, sounded like it was going to switch to voice-mail, and dropped the call. I don't know how these scammers actually scam someone, since they hangup so quickly and never seem to stay on the line long enough to even get close to attempt a close, much less get more info out of them.
