Upon further investigation, I cannot find a Rick Sanchez at a Bergman and Associates. It seems that this person is a debt collector spoofing his number and threatening legal action.

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number. Please note that process servers do not ever call ahead. That way you can’t dodge them.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Yes, i too got a similar call from this man- but spells it BURGMAN an ASSOCIATES. Address is a PO BOX from Santa Ana, i cant locate this business at all online, I checked various websites . A woman called my job & says she has a summons for me but wants to give me a chance to receive it elsewhere, not at my job. When i asked what this was about- she said, that she could not discuss what was in a sealed envelope and to call 714-276-0740 for more info. When i called this number, Rick Sanchez answered and tells me that i owe a large sum of money and that i could get garnished?? Other option was to pay half the amount requested and that would settle the debt or i could make payment arrangements with a deposit and give him my banking info before the months end. He kept repeating that he could NOT throw out the number$ to satisfy this debt and I should be the one to suggest numbers to pay off the debt . I found it a little strange. He emailed me a letter with a payment plan that i did not agree to. I emailed back asking him to stop calling my employment and to also send me a copy of summons or validation of debt. The office or his secretary now states they do not communicate via email at all and to call Sanchez for info...not sure what to make of this. Its been 7 day, i have not got served at work or anything no mail- I am still awaiting verification of debt. Not sure if i will get it. Forgot to mention- i did contact an attorney and asked if there was a summons under my name?? He did not find a thing, also this debt the company is trying to collect is not even on my credit report???
Rick sanchez called my job corporate office in another state and had them transfer to my office to make it seem like he talked them about me. he said he wanted to serve me a summons and wanted to give me to change the location of delivery because they don't like coming to people jobs. he use kauffman or kaufman and assoicate. they have tried several different tactics and have never served me a summons. the number he answer as himself and not a business.
