GOOD FOR YOU! :) Yep, that's all you have to do. Tell them off and call block.
Incidentally, Dubois can be pronounced either way.. it's the preference of the family or descendants with the name.. "dew-boyce" is "Americanized" pretty much - and "dew-bwah" is the original French, of course. I even knew a Dubose who pronounced his name "dew-bose" just like it looks, like the speaker company.
These people started calling me last week. Same scenario always the others stated and always from 714-415-3613. The first message was that it was in regards to "my property" at such-n-such address. I haven't lived at said address in almost three years and subleased it from a former roommate. Then they listed a "case number" and said to call back within 24 hours. I got to work and they had called there as well. I called them back the next day already thinking it was some sort of scam. I asked why the lady who left the message named Rosie said it was in regards to "my property" the guy, Matt said it was so I'd call back. I said, "well that's shady." He said they were notifying me that I'm being sued for a payday loan I took out and didn't pay on. I never took one out. They said I was lying and I told them they were scammers. I asked why I hadn't recieved any mail from them (they also had my current address). He claimed they've sent numerous notifications. I said that's funny because I haven't recieved a single one. Matt called me a "deadbeat". I asked him how he can sleep soundly at night knowing he's a scammer trying to cheat people out of money, harass them and calls people names for a living. I said he's the one that's the deadbeat and he needs to get a real job because I'm sure he'd be a happier person. He talked in circles and I poked holes in numerous things he said. I told him to stop contacting me at the numbers they had on file and I was going to report them to the authorities. I asked what address they were at and he wouldn't tell me. All he would say was that he was from the office of Attorney William DuBois and their parent company was Platnium Holdings. I got to work later that day and my boss had recieved a call from the same guy. She said it sounded like a call center and he didn't really make sense with what he said and asked about me either.
Yep, I got a call and a voicemail from 714-415-3613 that alarmed me about an ex from yrs ago, "Megan" gave me the 24 hrs deadline. I contacted the family and they said they had revealed it was a scam.
I asked my father and was told one other thing about it from my him (he's a police officer) that no one has mentioned on here.... He said if you used the apps or advertisements they have onlineor shows like "Cheaters" to track numbers or texts on a spouse or friend to see the messages they get it sends the number you give them to put out on these call lists for profit. Apparently people report it semi regularly.
First, if you received a call from "714-415-3635" then why did you post in this thread which is clearly marked 714-415-3613? Second there is no reason for crooks pretending to be debt collectors to purchase anything. Al the information they need is readily available on the internet for free.
